Baglio
Lauria is
an ancient Franciscan monastery, at the time named ‘the
Crucifix’. Our ancestor, Paolo Làuria, bought it in the second
half of the nineteenth century, soon after the unification of Italy.
It lies on the plateau of Campobello di Licata at 300 m. above
sea-level. The farmland, which is about fifty hectares, originally
grew only cereals but today we grow vines, almonds and olives. From
our olives comes the tasty cold pressed extra-virgin olive oil that
we use to cook meals for friends and guests. It was turned into a
farm in the 18th century and has been modernized and
redecorated in 2000.

Baglio
Làuria, is
located in the sunny Sicilian countryside, where people can spend a
period of absolute peace and quiet, swimming in the open air pool,
walking on the gentle hills or relaxing under the olive trees. There
is a comfortable living room that overlooks the swimming pool and a
restaurant where guests may taste traditional Sicilian meals cooked
by the owners. The farmhouse has two en-suite quadruple bedrooms,
one en-suite double bedroom and one independent flat with three twin
rooms and two shower-rooms.During
their stay guests may visit the nearby villages of Campobello di
Licata, Naro, Palma di Montechiaro and Licata, full of artistic and
historical sites. Beautiful sandy beaches are just ten minutes
drive. The splendid ‘Valle dei Templi’ in Agrigento is only 30
km west of Baglio. |
